Jilpia Nappaljari Jones is a Walmadjari woman from the Kimberleys. She was a registered nurse on the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program (NTEHP) during the 1970s and 1980s, and later did ophthalmologic training at the prestigious Moorefield Eye Hospital in London. Jilpia has attained a BA at the Australian National University and she is currently a Research Officer in Aboriginal health at AIATSIS. The research project she is currently working on is a history of the NTEHP from an Aboriginal perspective.

 

Jilpia was awarded an Order of Australia for services to ophthalmology and birthing choices in 1995, and an Australian Centenary Medal in 2003.
