Dates: 11-14 March 2010
Room T6, Manning Clark Centre, ANU (11 March), ANU Kioloa Campus (12-14 March)
The ninth annual Workshop on Australian Languages will be hosted by the School of Language Studies, Australian National University (ANU) and Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS). The workshop is a good opportunity to catch up with current research on Australian languages in a less formal environment. It is also a good opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed environment.
The workshop will start at 2 pm Thursday afternoon and finish lunch time on Sunday. Thursday sessions will be held at ANU Canberra campus and Friday-Sunday sessions will be held at ANU Kioloa campus, about 200 km east of Canberra. Click here (28kb
) for a program. Information about access to Kioloa can be found at http://kioloa.anu.edu.au/directions/. We will arrange transport from Canberra to Kioloa, and if possible from Sydney to Kioloa, and we will ask for contribution to a petrol kitty.
The workshop will be preceded by a tour of the AIATSIS library and Audio-visual Archive from 11:30 to 12:30 on Thursday. This will be a rare opportunity to view digitisation process and equipment used at AIATSIS.
The workshop fee will be $130, essentially to cover the cost of food, accommodation (a bed in a twin room for two nights, excluding linen and towel), and use of Kioloa facilities (kitchen and meeting room). A linen pack, including a towel, costs additional $22.
At the workshop, we will also be discussing arrangements for future workshops (venue and organisers).
Please contact Kazuko Obata (kazuko.obata-at-aiatsis.gov.au, 02 6246 1166) if you have any questions.
