Ms Mikala Sedgwick


Mikala is a Gamilaraay Nation woman from Northern NSW and Southern QLD.  She has worked in the Australian Public Service over nine years across a number of agencies including, Health, Education and Employment.  She has also undertaken community development work in remote communities across Central Australia. Mikala

Mikala has a strong commitment to supporting the Australian Government’s obligation to closing the gap on Indigenous disadvantage across justice, education, training, employment and health outcomes.  She completed the Master of Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development (MAAPD Indigenous Policy) program at the Australian National University. As well as completing my Bachelor of Arts with Majors in Anthropology, Indigenous Australians studies and Health, Medicine and the Body.  She is currently completing Postgraduate studies in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

As part of the AIATSIS Visiting Indigenous Research Fellowship Mikala will complete a Master of Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development research thesis with the intention of furthering this research into a PhD.
