Past conferences

AIATSIS is committed to leadership and excellence in promoting, facilitating and undertaking high quality research in Australian Indigenous studies. Below are listings of past years' conferences on issues relating to all aspects of Indigenous studies. The Native Title Research Unit (NTRU) Conference is held every year; AIATSIS National Indigenous Studies Conference is held every two years.

AIATSIS does not publish the full proceedings of all Conferences. It does, however, encourage conveners to arrange publication where appropriate, and reminds conveners that Aboriginal Studies Press might be contacted to discuss potential publication, and that the Institute’s journal, Australian Aboriginal Studies, is willing to consider proposals for thematic issues based on conference sessions.

Selected papers from the conferences below can be viewed by following the links from the conference titles.
