How to apply for an AIATSIS Research Grant

Applications for the 2010 grant round are now closed. The results will be available mid June 2010.

Individuals and/or organisations may apply for research grants.  However, all applicants are normally required to have an Australian based administering organisation; this could be a university, statutory body or an incorporated organisation.

Applications must be made on the Research Grant Application form. To assist in developing your project budget, a budget calculator spreadsheet (exl 39Kb ) is available.

The Information for AIATSIS Research Grant Applicants (pdf202 Kb) document contains the most important information you will need to complete an application for a grant.  It explains the sort of information we will be looking for in your application and how it will be assessed.

Each application will need two referee reports, using the Referee Report Form 2010. Information for Referees provides additional advice for referees.

Most grants will require ethical clearance from individuals or community groups.  A draft Informed Consent form should be sent with your application. The Plain English guide may help you with this.

Successful applicants will need to comply with the Guidelines for Ethical Research in Indigenous Studies.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that the application form, references and other supporting documents are delivered to AIATSIS by the closing date. Documents received after that date will not be circulated to the assessors.
