
Research Assistant
Melissa Crowther holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Linguistics from the University of Sydney.
She undertook fieldwork in Papua New Guinea for her Honours thesis, working on an ethnographic and historical comparison of the One languages in Sandaun Province, and then again as a summer research scholar at the Australian National University, making a comparative phonological analysis of these languages.
Prior to joining AIATSIS in September 2010, Melissa was employed as a language teacher, copyeditor, and as a linguist in the speech technology industry.
She now works as a research assistant in ACAL, primarily responsible for updating the AUSTLANG database.
