Through its projects and activities, The AIATSIS Centre for Australian Languages (ACAL) connects individuals and organisations interested in Australian Indigenous languages – community people, linguists, governments, language organisations, and educational and research institutions.

Located within the AIATSIS Indigenous Social and Cultural Wellbeing Research Program, ACAL also works closely with the AIATSIS Library and Audiovisual Archives . Currently we are partially funded by the Indigenous Language Program in the Office for the Arts.
Our research is often conducted in partnership with other research institutions, Indigenous regional alliances, Indigenous representative and corporate bodies, communities and individuals. Our guidelines for research ethics are available here.
