How these bibliographies were compiled

These bibliographies are for the Library collection only. The search strategy for each bibliography is the same. The search is conducted by choosing the Library Collections then typing the language name into the language box.

The search was done for each of the following item types:

  • Books
  • Reference Material
  • serials – articles from serials (also known as journals, magazines)
  • Pamphlets – small items usually under 60 pages, maybe be a single serial, or a serial article.
  • Rare materials – includes rare books, rare serials and rare pamphlets
  • Language materials – material written in language, many chidlren’s stories and bible stories.
  • Manuscripts and pamphlet manuscripts – unpublished material - often field notebooks or thesis.
  • Microforms – microfilm and microfiche
How to gain access to these materials

Except for manuscript material (call numbers ms and pms) which is unpublished, much of the material in the bibliographies will be available in other libraries, particularly the National Library, State Libraries and University libraries. In the first instance we suggest you consult with your local libraries to see if they have any of these materials.

If you are unable to obtain any of this material from your local libraries the AIATSIS Library can provide the following services.

Interlibrary loans – you may be able to borrow some books from the AIATSIS Library. The loan needs to be arranged via your local library. The cost of this service is $13.20 (incl. GST) per item.

Document delivery – the AIATSIS Library can provide limited photocopy of chapters of books, serial articles and some pamphlets. In general whole items cannot be photocopied. Photocopying of rare materials is at the discretion of the Rare Books Curator depending on the condition of the item. The cost is 30c per page. Manuscripts may be photocopied depending on the Access Conditions which are placed on the material by the Depositor’s. These conditions are found under Access  in the Manuscript and Microform reports.
