    Search for articles on Australian Indigenous studies (or any other subject) from a substantial collection of mainly overseas journals. Note that this is a commercial service with a charge for all articles.

Library archive and museum catalogues

Library catalogues 

You can use the ALG to find libraries by their name, state, type of library (eg state or university) or the subject of their collections. For example. select "Local/Family History" from the Library Type box and select the State required from the Location box and click on the "search" button. Many of these libraries have online catalogues that can be searched on the Internet. Your local library may be able to locate material held in other libraries for you or arrange the inter-library loan of books or magazine articles.

Native Title 

  • AIATSIS – Native Title Research Unit
    The Native Title Research Unit identifies pressing research needs arising from the recognition of native title, conducts relevant research projects to address these needs, and disseminates the results. They publish a regular newsletter, an Issues Papers series, and publications arising from research projects.
    The NTRU also fields requests for library searches and materials from the Institute’s collections for clients involved in native title claims and assists the Institute Library in maintaining collections on native title.
  • National Native Title Tribunal 
    The site provides information about the Tribunal, native title applications, the future act processes, Indigenous land use agreements, mediation and other information related to native title and the Native Title Act 1993.
  • Native Title Reports - Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
    Under the Native Title Act 1993, the Commissioner is required to make a Native Title Report to federal Parliament each year. Through these reports, the Commissioner gives a human rights perspective on native title issues.
  • Native Title Representative Bodies
    NTRB net is designed to provide information to native title clients and the general public in relation to information and developments of Australian native title issues.

  • Treaty - AIATSIS Library online exhibition
    Includes the original documents that were central to the debate of a treaty with the Indigenous peoples of Australia.
  • Agreements, Treaties & Negotiated Settlements Project - The Agreements, Treaties and Negotiated Settlements database (ATNS) is an online gateway which links together current information, historical detail and published material relating to agreements made between indigenous people and others in Australia and overseas.
