Photocopying requests/Document delivery/Interlibrary loans

  • The AIATSIS Library follows the Australian Interlending Code and the standard charges as detailed in the code.
  • We are a reference library. Material is not available for personal loan. Interlibrary loans of published books may be arranged by your library. Individuals may request copies of journal articles or book analytics.

Individuals

Individuals may request photocopies of articles, or a reasonable portion of books or of some manuscripts. There is a standard fee for each item. Refer to Library charges. Prepayment by Bankcard, Mastercard, Visa, money order or cheque is required when you place your order.

Requests must comply with the Copyright Act 1968. This means that a copyright declaration must accompany all requests. This declaration is incorporated into our Photocopy Request Form. The form must be printed out and faxed or posted, as it is important to have a signature. In most cases it is not possible to photocopy a whole work, unless it is a single journal article. Photocopies may take up to 20 working days to supply. Prior arrangements may be made to fast track urgently needed material. A surcharge applies.

There is a separate form for copying from manuscripts.

Other libraries

Other libraries may borrow books and request document delivery via the Kinetica InterLibrary Loan system or by email (ill@aiatsis.gov.au) or fax (02-6261 4287). Standard ILRS code rates apply.

Please note: Manuscripts, pamphlets, rare materials and items from the Language Collection are not loaned. If you require access to these materials it is necessary to visit the Institute.
