Bringing Them Home Counsellors

In 1995 the then Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (now called Australian Human Rights Commission) conducted the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families. The Bringing Them Home report (often refered to as the "Stolen Generations") was released in 1997.

You can read more about this and download the full report at the website of the Human Rights Commission (Opens new window).

One of the 54 recommendations of the inquiry was the establishment of family tracing and reunion services and to provide support and counselling for clients of these family history services.

Bringing Them Home (BTH) Counsellors provide counselling and support services to members of the Stolen Generations and their families and communities.
