McGregor (1988) says that possible dialect names include Djuwali, Jiwali, Koalgurdi and Yalmbau.

McGregor (1985) says the language has less than 20 speakers at La Grange and Broome.

Fr Kevin McKelson (late 1960s to present)
Brigitte Agnew began work on Mangala in 1990.
6. Practical spelling system:
The same as for Nyangumarta/ MartuWangka; it has been in use in the La Grange school programme.
